Don't you just love sitting down and looking at old family photo albums. I always thought it was neat that there was proof that mom and dad weren't always old. It's also fun to laugh at the hair and cloths of days gone by. Portraits are nice and everything, but to be honest I've always liked the candid photos best. Those little snapshots of a moment in our lives. Portraits are nice to hang on a wall, but it's those snapshots in the family photo album that bring back all the memories.

I've always though that congregations should act a lot more like family than most do. Maybe what congregations need are family photo albums to remind them of where they've been, where they're going, and just how goofy some of those hair styles were! Well, no we have a digital version of a family photo album right here on our site. If you look on the main menu (to the left) you will see a link called "Photo Gallery." We've put this up to serve as a digital album for our church family here at the Stockdale Church of Christ. The neat part is anyone can post their pictures as long as they are registered users on the site. If you've never registered as a user on our site now would be a great time to do that. All you have to do is fill out a short form with your name and email address and pick a password. Once your account has been activated you will have additional options under the "User" menu. One option will be to upload and manage photos in the online photo album.

Now, of course, use common sense here. We don't want naked pictures of little Johnny and Suzie in the tub when they were 3. Save those to embarrass them with when their first date shows up at the door. What would work great are pictures taken of members at worship, or Bible class, or special events. Most of us have cameras on our phones these days, so they are with us where ever we go. Take them out and use them. Snap a picture of that brother or sister stuffing their face at the monthly pot-luck. Or post evidence of just how bad of a looser sister so-and-so is at dominoes. Teachers (or students) break out your cameras in class and show everyone else the cool craft your group has been working on.

And to add to the fun, our photo album also allows for pictures to be rated and commented on, but to do so you will have to be a registered user again.

The sky is the limit, but what will make it work best is if we all pitch in and donate pictures on occasion. So, if you're a shutter-bug, get snapping and show us just how good you are with that fancy camera!

P.S. If it's been a while since you registered on the site as a user, you may need to register again. The site had to be completely rebuilt recently so all the old accounts were erased.
